Middle qualification interview

Join us for a short behind the scenes interview with Erik Kálmán, the course setter of middle distance qualification, unraveling some of the twists and turns of the courses! 🎤❓

What makes a good middle distance?

A good middle distance usually challenges the runner to use everything they learnt. Fast and slow navigation in different terrains, direction changes and quick decision making.

What was the most challenging in your course setting?

It was challenging to find the balance between the required winning time and an enjoyable and testing course for every category.

What makes the terrain special?

It is a particularly fast terrain compared to others in the area, with a lot of features in some places. I think it makes for a perfect qualification.

What is the key to perform well on the race?

To perform well in the qualification, you have to find a balance between running fast and navigating successfully. I think it really pays off selecting your speed well in each segment of the course.

What’s your message to the athletes?

I wish you to enjoy your time in these beautiful forests and hope you can give your all.
